Let’s be real, life is pretty hectic! We work full time jobs, sometimes have a gig on the side, we’re spending nights taking class, we’re commuting to work more than 45 minutes, we’re raising our children, we’re spending time with our aging parents, we’re trying to make time to hang out with friends…all while keeping up the house, taking the dog for a walk, and doing 3 loads of really overdue laundry! Oh…and we grab a quick bite with our partner in between. We are not taking care of our #1 priority – OURSELVES – and we need to stop that sh*t!
Is it that we feel it’s not important or do we feel guilty saying NO to others? Our mental health is so vital, yet we put it on the back burner – why? Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s necessary! We are not our best selves when we are burned out. We are not the best wives, mothers, friends, daughters, sisters, co-workers, employees – all the things we value and take pride in doing…we are really just half assing it all – because we don’t take the time to unplug and re-charge!
There is no guilt in saying you need a time out. It doesn’t mean you are not super woman – because baby, you sure are! However, even super woman needs a nap here and there!
Think of it as, if you were the latest, most dopest iPhone, you came with all the bells and whistles…you still need to re-charge right? It doesn’t mean that your value decreases because you take a time out – matter of fact, your value increases because now you’re juiced up and ready to go once again!
I want you to give yourself permission to focus on YOU!
